The FIPRESCI Prize jury at IFF Art Film 2026 comprises a Paris-based film critic, an Amsterdam editor and a Slovak film journalist

The International Film Festival (IFF) Art Film has announced the composition of the FIPRESCI Prize jury for its 32nd edition, which will take place from 19 to 25 June 2026 in Košice. The International Federation of Film Critics’ prize will be awarded by French journalist and film critic Pierre-Yves Roger, Dutch film journalist Clementine van Wijngaarden and Slovak film journalist Matúš Kvasnička.

The FIPRESCI Prize (Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique) is one of the most prestigious awards given at film festivals around the world. The International Federation of Film Critics, founded in 1926, brings together film critics and journalists from more than 50 countries. FIPRESCI juries operate at the most prominent festivals, including Cannes, Venice and Berlin. At IFF Art Film, the FIPRESCI Prize is awarded to films included in several of the festival’s film sections.

“The FIPRESCI jury has been assembled to bring experience from different media environments and traditions of film criticism. Pierre-Yves Roger is a journalist with decades of experience in international media, Clementine van Wijngaarden brings the perspective of Dutch film journalism, and Matúš Kvasnička represents Slovak film journalism with a deep knowledge of Central European cinema,” said the festival’s artistic director Martin Palúch.

Pierre-Yves Roger — international journalist and film critic

Pierre-Yves Roger (France) is an experienced journalist and film critic based in Paris. Over the course of his career, he has worked in the newsrooms of some of the most prominent French and international media outlets, including the Associated Press, Radio France and the news portal france24.com. He has also contributed to the daily Le Figaro.

He currently focuses on film criticism at the portal ecrannoir.fr. He is a member of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) and has extensive experience serving on juries at international film festivals.

Clementine van Wijngaarden — film journalist and editor

Clementine van Wijngaarden (Netherlands) is a film journalist and editor. She studied journalism and film studies at the University of Amsterdam. She works as a contributor and editor at the Dutch television magazine VARAgids and has also contributed to de Volkskrant, one of the most prominent Dutch print media outlets.

She is an active member of FIPRESCI and regularly serves on juries at international film festivals. Her experience in the Dutch media landscape brings to the jury a perspective of Western European film journalism.

Matúš Kvasnička — film journalist and editor-in-chief of Film.sk

Matúš Kvasnička (Slovakia) is a film journalist and publicist. In 2002, he graduated in film science from the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. During his studies, he occasionally contributed to several periodicals, including the film monthly Film.sk and the weekly Kultúrny život. From 2003, he worked at the daily Pravda in the culture department, which he also headed. He left the publishing house in the summer of 2019.

Since November 2019, he has served as editor-in-chief of the monthly magazine dedicated to Slovak cinema Film.sk and subsequently of the film portal Filmsk.sk.
