Meet the International Feature Film Jury of IFF ART FILM 2025

For the 31st time, the Art Film International Film Festival will bring to Slovakia dozens of new and exceptional films from around the globe. A three-member jury of film professionals will decide on the quality of the feature films in the International Competition of Feature Films. The jury will present the prestigious Blue Angel award to the best film, the best director and the best actor.

The first jury member of the International Competition of Feature Films at ART FILM 2025 will be Glória Halász, a Hungarian producer and author of award-winning feature documentaries, which often focus on artists, dancers and theatre people. After graduating in Film and Media Studies at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, the director began to explore the interconnectedness of art with the life of the common folk and contemporary social issues in her work. The author focuses on the mutual influence of these spheres. Gloria Halász’s films with great international acclaim include Circus Siblings, about a group of circus art students whose studies in Kiev are disrupted first by the coronavirus pandemic and later by the Russian-Ukrainian war. The director’s film Rupa’s Boutique, about fashion design and acid attacks on women in India, has won a total of five awards at international festivals. Glória Halász has been a member of juries at film festivals both in Hungary and abroad.

Born in Geneve, Alexandre O. Philippe , the second member of the international jury at the upcoming 31st ART FILM festival, has become famous for his film analyses of iconic pop culture works that changed the history of cinema. His documentary work has previously explored the global phenomenon of Star Wars in The People vs. George Lucas, the famous sci-fi horror series Alien in the documentary Memory: The Origins of Alien and in the film 78/52, he analysed the famous shower murder scene in Hitchcock’s masterpiece Psycho, with the participation of various film experts. Alexandre O. Philippe was a member of the jury at both the London Film Festival and the Rome International Film Festival. In 2024, he received the Venezia Classici Award at the Venice IFF for his documentary Chain Reactions about the cult film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

The jury, which will decide on the prestigious Blue Angel award, will be completed by Slovak director, screenwriter and producer Marko Škop, known for his successful documentaries Other Worlds and Osadné, as well as his award-winning feature films Eva Nová and Let There Be Light. All of Marko Škop’s feature films have been nominated or won  the Sun in a Net national film awards and his work regularly raises great acclaim at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
