Maroš Kramár will receive the Hero’s Mission honorary award at the 30th Art Film IFF

During the round anniversary of our festival, directors Miloslav Luther and Cristi Puiu received the Golden Camera award. However, the Actor’s Mission award, which will be presented this year, apart from actress Antónia Lišková, also by Maroš Kramár, is an inseparable part of Art Film as well.

Maroš Kramár was born on 26 April 1959 in Bratislava and has been devoted to acting since childhood. In his first theatrical experience he played the role of the Boy in the production of Nová scéna theatre called Mnoho kriku pre nič (Much Ado About Nothing) in 1966. He played his first role in a feature film at the age of thirteen; it was in Ján Lacko‘s film Heaven Is Far Away (1972). Since then, Maroš Kramár has continuously devoted himself to the art of acting on the stage, as well as in front of film and television cameras.

In 1978 he successfully completed his studies of acting at the Brno Conservatory. He worked for a year in a theatre in Brno and later in the Andrej Bagar Theatre in Nitra (1979 – 1985). In the period from 1985 to 2008, he was a member of the Drama Theatre of the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava, where he played various characters in almost thirty productions.

His work in the film industry is best illustrated by the important films of Slovak cinema – Another Love (1985) by Dušan Trančík, On the Beautiful, Blue Danube (1994) by Štefan Semjan or Suzanne (1996) by Dušan Rapoš. Art Film audiences will have the opportunity to see the last of the specified films in this year’s festival program.

On the television screen, Maroš Kramár has become an indispensable part of Slovak cultural life. In recent years, he has appeared in the successful Slovak series Chatári (Cottagers) (2022) or Mama na prenájom (Mum for Rent) (2023). He is also extremely active in serial production in the Czech Republic, where viewers could see him in the projects Lajna (Line) (2021) and Slnečná (Sunny) (2021). In addition to acting, Kramár also established himself as an anchor, especially in the program Zázraky prírody (Miracles of Nature). The actor also acted in dozens of television films and productions.

The Honorary Actor’s Mission Award will be given to Maroš Kramár for his significant contribution to audiovisual art and his extraordinary influence on domestic and international cinema.

The Art Film IFF, as an important event annually presents international cinema and recognizes important achievements in film. The Actor’s Mission Award is one of the highest awards of this festival and has been awarded in the past to personalities from the film environment, such as Franco Nero, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Emília Vášáryová, Ladislav Chudík or Zuzana Kronerová. Last year, actresses Eva Holubová and Zdena Studenková received the award.
