At the 31st Edition of the International Film Festival Art Film, the FIPRESCI Jury Makes Its Debut Alongside the Traditional Three International Juries.<\/strong> For the first time in its history, in addition to the traditional three international juries, the 31st edition of the International Film Festival Art Film will also introduce a fourth jury \u2013 the FIPRESCI Jury. Members of this independent jury belong to the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI \u2013 F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale de la Presse Cin\u00e9matographique) and focus on recognizing films that excel in artistic, technical, or narrative quality.<\/p>\n

The FIPRESCI Jury will independently evaluate a selected section of films and present its own award \u2013 the Blue Angel \/ FIPRESCI Prize \u2013 to a film distinguished by its exceptional creative approach and artistic value. The aim of this award is to promote cinematic art and support new and emerging filmmaking talent.<\/p>\n

\"\" \u00a0This year’s jury consists of three internationally respected figures in the field of film theory and criticism. Jonathan Murray<\/strong> from the United Kingdom is a professor of film theory, history, and criticism at the University of Edinburgh. He is the author of several major film publications, a contributor to the magazine Cineaste<\/em>, and one of the editors of the academic journal Journal of British Cinema and Television<\/em>.<\/p>\n

M\u00e1ria Feren\u010duhov\u00e1 \u00a9 Dirk Skiba<\/p><\/div>\n

Representing Slovakia is poet, translator, and film theorist M\u00e1ria Feren\u010duhov\u00e1<\/strong>. She is the author and editor of three film monographs and has written five collections of poetry. In addition to her extensive literary activity, she also lectures at the Academy of Arts in Bansk\u00e1 Bystrica. She has previously taught at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (V\u0160MU) and currently works as a research fellow at the Slovak Film Institute. Her film specialization lies primarily in Slovak documentary and essay films.<\/p>\n

Malik Berkati<\/p><\/div>\n

The third jury member is journalist and film critic Malik Berkati<\/strong>, who is based in Berlin, Germany. He is the editor-in-chief of the international online magazine j:mag<\/em>, focused on culture and social issues. He has long served as a jury member at various international film festivals across Europe and Asia. He is a member of FIPRESCI as well as other professional organizations such as the European Film Academy and the German Film Critics Association (VdFK).<\/p>\n

The FIPRESCI Federation operates at film festivals around the world, and its award is considered one of the most prestigious honors in the field of cinema. IFF Art Film is the only film festival in Slovakia to present this accolade.<\/p>\n
