16.6. at 14:00 FILM LOCATIONS IN EAST SLOVAKIA<\/strong><\/p>\n

This presentation of film locations in the Ko\u0161ice and Pre\u0161ov regions looks at communities, specific places and buildings that have served as sets for Slovak and international film and television productions. Attendees will be introduced to various areas and cultural landmarks that have provided filmmakers with exterior and interior backdrops, thus becoming a visual part of productions spanning a wide range of genres from works for children to action-packed movies and series. The extent of these locations’ use, any modifications they required for filming purposes, and particular locations\u2019 popularity among film- makers will be presented, as well as their diversity and appeal, which also serves to highlight and stimulate their potential for the tourism industry. Mgr. Tom\u00e1\u0161 Galierik, a specialist in film tourism, will host the presentation. Following his studies of culturology and tourism management, he worked at a well-known travel agency, and he is also the author of the encyclopedia series Filmov\u00e9 miesta (2021) and Filmov\u00e9 miesta 2 (2022).<\/p>\n

16.6. at 16:00\u00a0<\/strong>SLOVAK AND CZECH FILM SCHOOLS \u2013 FTF V\u0160MU, THE ACADEMY OF ARTS AND FAMU<\/b><\/p>\n

What opportunities to study film do Slovakia and Czechia offer Slovak students? What are the challenges they face in today\u2019s educa- tion landscape, and what are their future prospects? Part of Art Film Fest\u2019s industry programme, this event will present three different entryways for Slovak students into what may be these countries\u2019 most important film schools. The Slovakia portion will be presented by Darina Smr\u017eov\u00e1, dean of the Film and Television Faculty at the Acad- emy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (FTF V\u0160MU) and Peter Neve\u010fal, an instructor at the Academy of Arts in Bansk\u00e1 Bystrica. The Film and Television School at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) will be presented by D\u00e1vid \u010cen\u011bk, Vice-Dean for International Relations at FAMU.<\/p>\n

19.6. at 10:00 DISCUSSION ON EXPANDING THE AUDIOVISUAL WORKFORCE<\/strong><\/p>\n

Developments in the audiovisual industry are presenting contem- porary cinema with major challenges. The increase in production has given rise to a workforce crisis, specifically the shortage of film professionals. How can we support students\u2019 training and subsequent employment in the audiovisual industry? How can we improve the functional infrastructure and expand the workforce? In this discussion, these questions will be answered by representatives of important institutions the Slovak Film Agency, the Creative Center of Radio and Television of Slovakia and an important production company.<\/p>\n

19.6. at 14:00\u00a0<\/strong>GREEN FILMMAKING \u2013 ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTING ON FILM SETS AND THE FUTURE OF SUSTAINABLE CINEMA<\/b><\/p>\n

How can sustainability measures be implemented in film, and what makes a film production truly sustainable or minimizes its carbon footprint? J\u00falia Tordai and Zs\u00f3fia Szemer\u00e9dy, founders of the company GreenEyes Production, specialize in sustainability in the film, television and media sectors, and they will reveal what is most important to know when it comes to sustainability on set. Tordai and Szemer\u00e9dy have presented their success stories at numerous prestigious institutions, including Hungary\u2019s National Film Institute, taken part in stakeholder meetings with EU commissioners, and have been invited by the European Film Forum to share their knowledge at San Sebasti\u00e1n and the BFI. The two guest speakers will be introduced by Zuzana Bielikov\u00e1, head of the Slovak Film Agency.<\/p>\n

20.6. at 11:00 ART\u00c9NA FROM RTVS<\/strong><\/p>\n

We\u2019re powering up the domestic creative sector. It was clear to us that Slovakia\u2019s creative talent deserved a more supportive environment, so we established a network of Art\u00e9na Creative Centres, where creatives can gain experience, hone their skills and seek inspiration. Who are these centres oriented towards? And which creative professionals will have access to these newly renovated centres complete with cutting-edge technology, including dubbing studios, colour grading, sound and graphics studios, a cinema, and other professionally equipped spaces? You\u2019ll learn about all this, along with more about our programme portfolio, how the creative centres operate, and their benefits, at this presentation of Art\u00e9na by its representatives and RTVS.<\/p>\n

20.6. at 15:00 (Aupark)\u00a0<\/strong>SPECIAL EFFECTS \u2013 SFX<\/b><\/p>\n

Since day one, practical special effects (SFX) have been a part of creat- ing cinematic illusions. Before the arrival of computer visual effects (VFX), they were the only way to bring the director\u2019s vision to the screen. Special effects professionals can craft flawless illusions right on set, creating storms, fog, snow, frost, warfare, and anything else you can imagine. Their advantage over visual effects is that practical effects are directly visible during the film shoot, and they preserve the timeless magic of cinematic craft. The event will be led by Slovak Action Company, who will present actual examples of how cinematic illusions are created in a real setting.<\/p>\n

21.6. at 14:00\u00a0<\/strong>VFX DAY \u2013 A STUDIO 727 PRESENTATION<\/b><\/p>\n

Since its founding in 1997, the Slovak postproduction company Studio 727 has contributed to numerous projects in film, advertising and gaming. Led by the company\u2019s founder Ladislav Ded\u00edk, this mas- terclass will focus on the subject of digital postproduction technology (VFX), including an interactive presentation of technologies that use special computer-generated effects to bring cinematic images to the screen. During the presentation, you will be among the first to see selected clips from late director Juraj Jakubisko\u2019s upcoming final film: Perinbaba a dva svety (the sequel to the 1985 classic Perinbaba), which Studio 727 is currently working on in postproduction.<\/p>\n

All events, with the exception of SFX EFFECTS, will be held in Kulturpark.<\/p>\n
