\u201cThe organizers have a commitment to bringing Slovak audiences back to cinemas and fostering a new generation of film fans,\u201d says Art Film Fest\u2019s Program Director, Peter N\u00e1gel. This is how he expects the festival to bring in new blood, the 18-to-30-year-old \u201cbackpacker\u201d set who are a part of every major film festival\u2019s atmosphere, drawn above all by the art of cinema.<\/p>\n
Students who don\u2019t manage to complete the website\u2019s form will be able to purchase a discount Cinepass <\/b>at the festival box offices for 5 euros. Discount Cinepasses <\/b>will also be available holders of Teplice cards, 2009 ASFK Film Club membership cards, EURO 26 cards, ITIC cards and Z\u0164P cards for 10 euros through Ticketportal from 1 April to 19 June and at the festival for 15 euros.
Standard 8-day permanent passes<\/b> will be for sale on Ticketportal at the reduced price of 16 euros until the end of May, from 1 June until 16 June for 23 euros and at the festival for 30 euros.
Guests above 62 years of age<\/b> will pay 5 euros for a Cinepass onsite, except those with permanent residence in Tren\u010diansk\u00e9 Teplice or Tren\u010d\u00edn, who will pay only 2 euros.
A three-day Cinepass <\/b>will cost 20 euros, a one-day pass <\/b>5 euros, and a single-admission ticket<\/b> to a festival cinema will cost 2 euros. <\/p>\n
This year, Art Film Fest will offer an even richer bounty of films than ever before, including pictures from world-famous festivals like Berlin, Cannes, San Sebasti\u00e1n, Toronto, Venice and Locarno, cult classics that have made film history, upbeat dance films, classic comedies and premiering Slovak films.<\/p>\n
Already a festival tradition, the programme\u2019s centrepiece will be the International Competition of Feature Films<\/b>, which will present the work of talented filmmakers from the world over. The winner will receive the Blue Angel Award<\/b>.<\/p>\n
Leave your worries behind and have some fun with the section Dancing 80\u2019s<\/b>, personally presented by Slovak dancer and choreographer J\u00e1n \u010eurov\u010d\u00edk. The festival\u2019s president, actor and comedian Milan Lasica, has prepared some entertainment as well, in the form of the section Best of Comedy<\/b>.
European Corner<\/b> will present old-world films which have been receiving increasing attention around the world. Festival cinemas may also screen the latest legend of the bloodthirsty countess Al\u017ebeta B\u00e1thory, The Countess<\/i>, <\/i>created by and starring the distinguished French actress and director Julie Delpy.
The section Cult! <\/b>will again feature films which have made cinema history. The selections span the genres of war film, musical, horror, as well as science fiction. The section with the compelling title Love & Anarchy<\/b> surveys the latest trends in European, American and Asian cinema. The special section Late Night Show <\/b>will present a yet another sampling of unique and shocking works.
New to Art Film Fest will be a section of new Slovak films, which will even feature several premieres.<\/p>\n
As in previous years, the festival will bestow the distinctive Actor\u2019s Mission Award<\/b>, as well as the Golden Camera<\/b>, whose laureates have already achieved fame. This year the award goes to one of the most distinguished directors in Europe, Czech filmmaker V\u011bra Chytilov\u00e1<\/b>, who has recently celebrated her 80th<\/sup> birthday, and whose accomplishments include cult classics such as A Bagful of Fleas<\/i>, Daisies<\/i>, The Apple Game<\/i>, Panelstory<\/i>, Wolf\u2019s Lair<\/i>, The Jester and the Queen<\/i>, Traps<\/i> and The Inheritance<\/i>. Her films have also been featured at the Cannes, Berlin and Venice festivals.The second award recipient will be Italian director Ettore Scola, who made his name with the film<\/b> Le Bal<\/i>, where he portrayed significant moments in 20th<\/sup> century French history through dance and music. His films include performances by stars such as Marcello Mastroianni, Sophia Loren and Ornella Muti, and his previous honours include prizes from Cannes and Berlin.<\/p>\n
