This time he will introduce no less than two pictures: <b><i>Don\u2019t Bogart that Joint <\/i><\/b>and <b><i>Smoke Gets in Your Eyes<\/i><\/b>. His experimental work utilizes found footage, from which he collects and assembles thematically similar fragments from pre-existing films, resulting in a completely novel cinematic reality. <br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"align-justify\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Another interesting title with a particularly witty punchline is <b><i>True Beauty This Night<\/i><\/b> from American director Peter Besson, who has racked up fifteen film awards so far. This time he offers a unique perspective on what a man in love is capable of. &nbsp;<\/span>Winner of the Golden Bear for Best Short Film from this year\u2019s Berlinale, Swedish director Ruben \u00d6stlund\u2019s <b><i><span lang=\"EN-GB\">H\u00e4ndelse vid bank <\/span><\/i><\/b><span lang=\"EN-GB\">(Incident by a Bank) could be taken as a crash course in what to steer clear of when planning a bank robbery.<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\"> The Norwegian film <b><i>Ella<\/i><\/b> (d. H. Larsen) was awarded the Special Jury Award at this year\u2019s prestigious Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. It tells the short yet powerful story of what may well be the world\u2019s most disagreeable old lady; under her repugnant mask, however, she hides a shocking secret from her past. At the same festival, the National Competition Grand Prix went to the black comedy <\/span><b><i><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00bfD\u00f3nde est\u00e1 Kim Basinger? <\/span><\/i><\/b><span lang=\"EN-GB\">(Where\u2019s Kim Basinger?, <\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">&nbsp;<\/span>d. E. Deluc), about the pitfalls of Buenos Aires\u2019 nightlife. <\/p>\n<p class=\"align-justify\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The competition\u2019s shortest film of all is <\/span><b><i><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Der Da Vinci Timecode <\/span><\/i><\/b><span lang=\"EN-GB\">(The Da Vinci Timecode, d. G. Alkabetz), at a mere three minutes. But this suffices for a unique exploration of Da Vinci&#8217;s famous painting &quot;The Last Supper&quot;, searching for meanings hidden until now. On the other hand, the longest picture is the Slovak film <b><i>\u010eakujem, dobre<\/i><\/b><i> <\/i>(Thanks, Fine, d. M. Prikler) at nearly forty minutes in length, the only allowed exception to the competition&#8217;s usual limit of thirty minutes. The film was officially selected for the <\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Cin\u00e9fondation <\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">student competition section at Cannes this year. <br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"align-justify\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Art Film Fest&#8217;s competition will offer many more fascinating pictures. <b><i>Ahate pasa <\/i><\/b>(Duck Crossing, d. K. Almandoz) depicts a previously overlooked phenomenon of world cinema \u2013 shots of passing ducks, while <b><i>Glenn Owen Dodds<\/i><\/b><i> <\/i>(d. F. Bailey) features a distinctive hypothetical look at God&#8217;s work. <\/span><b><i><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Le Technicien <\/span><\/i><\/b><span lang=\"EN-GB\">(d.<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\"> S.O. Fecteau) reveals what an average TV repairman can do with the content of news programmes, and <\/span><b><i><span lang=\"EN-GB\">La historia de siempre <\/span><\/i><\/b><span lang=\"EN-GB\">(The Same Old Story (The S.O.S.), d.<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\"> J. L. Montesinos) demonstrates how a convincingly told story can captivate every listener. <br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"align-justify\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">All this and much more will be offered to festival visitors at the International Competition of Short Films.&nbsp;<\/span> <\/p>\n<p> <span lang=\"EN-US\">Photographs can be found at artfilmfest.sk<\/span> in the Press section.<span lang=\"EN-GB\"><\/span> <span lang=\"EN-GB\">&nbsp;
