While Art Film Fest is primarily a celebration of cinema, we always offer fans of great music something to look forward to as well. As in previous years, the festival\u2019s nineteenth edition, held from 17 to 25 June in Tren\u010dianske Teplice and Tren\u010d\u00edn, will feature concerts both outdoors and at the Festival Caf\u00e9, and as usual, they’ll all be free.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, June 19th, Tren\u010d\u00edn’s main square will welcome the legendary Czech musician Michal David, who has reigned as "Disco King" for over three decades. Arriving at Art Film Fest with a large band in tow, he will offer fans a programme similar to his sold-out fiftieth-birthday concert at Prague’s O2 Arena last year, at a show dubbed \u201cbash of the year\u201d. Tren\u010d\u00edn’s audiences will be led through David\u2019s entire musical career, from his solo output to his showtune repertoire. The concert is brought to Art Film Fest by Pilsner Urquell.<\/p>\n
Every evening of the festival will be accompanied by music at Tren\u010dianske Teplice\u2019s Festival Caf\u00e9. The festival’s opening Saturday night will feature The Cellmates, a band steeped in the tradition of classic 1950s rock’n’roll, with clear blues, gospel and country influences. <\/p>\n
From Sunday on, Art Film Fest\u2019s musical programme will be in the capable hands of versatile musician Oskar R\u00f3zsa, who will personally introduce every concert.<\/p>\n
Sunday will be brought to a sweet finish by perennial Radio_Head award winners \u2013 members of the group Billy Barman, who will offer visitors a playful mix of indie and rock’n’roll. <\/p>\n
The week will be kicked off by jazzman Oskar R\u00f3zsa, who will appear with his quartet, featuring distinguished musicians such as percussionist Martin Valihora, guitarist Andrej Karl\u00edk and pianist Arp\u00e1d Farka\u0161, guaranteed to fascinate listeners with their delectably jazzy improvisations. <\/p>\n
On Tuesday, Art Film Fest will break into song with a concert by Czech musical personality Ivan Hlas and his trio. Winner of awards such as singer of the year and the Czech Lion for best soundtrack, Hlas has composed music for films such as \u201cBig Beat\u201d (\u0160akal\u00ed l\u00e9ta), \u201cHow to Deserve a Princess\u201d (Jak si zaslou\u017eit princeznu) and "The Blissful Years of Lousy Living\u201d (B\u00e1je\u010dn\u00e1 l\u00e9ta pod psa).
Wednesday evening will belong to a Slovak musical evergreen: the band Hex, who have entertained for over two decades now with their witty, enjoyable tunes. The quartet of \u010eu\u010fo, Fefe, Yxo and Tybyke will doubtlessly cater to fans with hits like \u201cChv\u00ed\u013eu \u00e1no, chv\u00ed\u013eu nie\u201c (Yes One Minute, No the Next), "Nikdy nebolo lep\u0161ie\u201c (Never Been Better) and \u201cV piatok podve\u010der\u201c (Early Friday Evening). <\/p>\n
On Thursday, festival audiences will be captivated by the border-crossing Slovak audio explorers Longital. Thanks to Shina’s enchanting voice, Daniel Salontay\u2019s virtuoso bowed guitar work and their use of an out-of-this-world electronic instrument, Longital has become one of the Slovak music scene\u2019s most original artists.
After that, Art Film Fest will introduce \u201cSiln\u00e9 re\u010di\u201d \u2013 the famed stand-up comedy show helmed by J\u00e1n Gorduli\u010d and his guests. \u201cSiln\u00e9 re\u010di\u201d is presented by Slovakia\u2019s first internet television station: Huste.tv.
On Friday, the festival\u2019s concert series will be brought to a close with a performance by the group Home Made Mutant, founded by Maro\u0161 He\u010dko after the break-up of his popular band Free Faces. This acoustic-electronic project is bound to fascinate visitors with its sheer originality. Home Made Mutant & DJ Lixx are presented by R\u00e1dio FM.
Concerts at the Festival Caf\u00e9 will be held every day at 9 pm, and will be followed by a live DJ. <\/p>\n
