An outstanding actor, an unforgettable comic, a perceptive writer and a man with a big heart. That is how his family, colleagues and friends remember J\u00falius Satinsk\u00fd. From June 21 to 26 in Tren\u010dianske Teplice and Tren\u010d\u00edn, the upcoming Art Film Fest will honour the 10th anniversary of this great performer\u2019s death with a special section dedicated to his acting mastery: Satinsk\u00fd According to Lasica. For more than four decades, these two artists formed an inseparable duo, creating television programmes and films that have become bona fide classics. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s safe to say that this section is going be a real treat for audiences,\u201d said Art Film Fest director Peter N\u00e1gel. <\/p>\n
From Satinsk\u00fd\u2019s prolific 40-year film career, Milan Lasica has selected seven pictures, both features and documentaries. \u201cJ\u00falius Satinsk\u00fd and film \u2013 that was a curious chapter in our long partnership,\u201d comments Lasica, Art Film Fest\u2019s president. <\/p>\n
Festival guests will get the chance to remember Satinsk\u00fd as Albert, the quirky, wise-cracking dad from Marie Poled\u0148\u00e1kov\u00e1\u2019s What a Wonderful World with You, the Czech comedy of the century that a whole generation grew up with. Lasica and Satinsk\u00fd appear together as visitors from another planet in Old\u0159ich Lipsk\u00fd\u2019s cult classic Cordially from Earth. The two normal-looking aliens, named A and B, come to study the lives of earthlings.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn \u201881 I received a telegram from Old\u0159ich Lipsk\u00fd asking if I\u2019d like to play an alien. I immediately said \u2018Yes!\u2019, since I’d already felt like one for years.
Lipsk\u00fd gave us a free hand, both as performers and as co-creators, resulting in a collaboration that was enjoyable and great fun,\u201d reminisces Lasica.<\/p>\n
The festival will also commemorate the outstanding actor and comic with The Remarkable World of J\u00falius Satinsk\u00fd, a documentary by Peter Hled\u00edk \u2013 Art Film Fest\u2019s founder, festival vice president and director of the Actor\u2018s Mission and Golden Camera Awards. The film features Satinsk\u00fd\u2019s brother Vojtech, younger by a year, who also suffered from serious health issues. \u201cJulo called me every morning at nine, every single day. We always talked about the problems we had. I kept telling him: \u2018If I made it, then you\u2019ll definitely pull through, too. There\u2019s no such thing as \u201cno\u201d. You don\u2019t have to be afraid.\u2019 But it was no use\u2026\u201d Vojtech Satinsk\u00fd says in the documentary.<\/p>\n
Further light is shed upon J\u00falius\u2019s life, work and relationships by I’m Dead at the Moment, a documentary by Kamila Vondrov\u00e1, a Slovak director living in Prague. Shot in 2006, after Satinsk\u00fd\u2019s death, for the Czech Television series P\u0159\u00edb\u011bhy slavn\u00fdch (Famous Life Stories), the film presents the beloved Slovak stage and film actor, writer, playwright and columnist through the fond memories of Milan Lasica, Marie Poled\u0148\u00e1kov\u00e1, Magda V\u00e1\u0161\u00e1ryov\u00e1, V\u00e1clav Postr\u00e1neck\u00fd and others. <\/p>\n
His friendships and collaborations were likely best summed up by Milan Lasica\u2019s eulogy, where he said: \u201cJulo, I\u2019m standing right where we got our start as clowns. And as a clown, I\u2019ve lived to see the saddest role of all \u2013 saying goodbye to you. You’re taking a piece of me with you. I\u2019m left here alone, somehow incomplete. I keep expecting to answer the phone and hear your famous words: \u2019I\u2019m dead at the moment, please try again later…\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
