The 26th incarnation of Slovakia’s oldest and biggest film festival already has a set date and location. For the third time now, the festival will be held in the urban centre of eastern Slovakia – Košice – from 15 to 23 June 2018.
In other news, Art Film Fest’s organizers were delighted to hear that Košice has become the first Slovak city to join UNESCO’s prestigious Creative Cities Network. This network brings together 180 cities spanning the globe, each oriented toward one of seven areas: music, literature, film, crafts and folk art, design, media arts or gastronomy. This comes after the city was named a European Capital of Culture in 2013, making this the second arts-related honour for Košice, a place that continually cultivates the conditions for the development of culture and creativity.
Those planning to attend the 26th Art Film Fest can look forward to nearly 200 films in various sections, some time-tested, others new or improved, including the international feature film and short competitions (the Blue Angel Awards). Speaking of prizes, the festival will also be honouring distinguished figures of Slovak and world cinema with the Actor’s Mission Award and Golden Camera. And as always, Art Film Fest will naturally feature a variety of popular accompanying events, such as autograph signings, discussions, workshops, exhibitions, gallery receptions and concerts.
In the words of Festival President Milan Lasica: “See you in Košice at Art Film Fest 2018!”
